Job Description A custodian at our school is responsible for keeping the building clean and tidy. We’re looking for an individual with a positive attitude who maintains a flexible schedule, follows all safety and security procedures, and is capable of handling tools to complete general maintenance throughout the school building. This position will require an individual who is comfortable working outdoors when weather permits. Responsibilities Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops, scrubs, and vacuums Performs other duties needed to maintain the cleanliness of campus floors. Removes trash, and cleans counters, equipment, and furnishings. Performs other duties as needed to maintain the cleanliness of laboratories, office areas, classrooms, cafeteria, staircases and other assigned work areas. Clean, sanitize, restocks and maintain restrooms. Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and other public areas. Handles emergency clean-ups; performs other related work as needed. Must be able to bend, twist, reach overhead, push and pull floor equipment (vacuum cleaner), push and/or pull large trash barrels, and lift full trash bags weighing 30 pounds. Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out the trash, clearing the job site, and storing equipment correctly Follow all safety protocols to prevent damage or injury Review your task with the Team SPVR once you are complete Report major damages to supervisor; supervisor reports to site manager Skills Six months of experience working in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting. Proven experience as custodian, janitor, or in a similar role Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components Attention to detail and conscientiousness Very good physical condition and strength Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Able to stand for extended periods and lift at least 35 pounds ( Heavy Equipment ) Some knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures. A high school diploma is preferred but not required Spanish Speaking ( not required ) The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on the school’s upkeep. They will have the great physical endurance to cover large spaces. A keen eye for detail and diligence is imperative for custodial tech/supervisor.
