We shelter 35 people nightly through our Emergency Shelter Program and up to five people in our transitional housing program, Abundant Life. We are seeking a hard-working, motivated individual to join our team of Shelter Monitors. Shelter Monitors are essential to keeping our facility running smoothly and safely. Employees must be capable of interacting with shelter guests in a respectful and professional manner. Shelter Monitors are responsible for keeping the shelter safe and orderly and must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Essential duties include:
Cleaning the shelter including common areas, dormitory, bathrooms, kitchen, storage areas, office, and exterior areas. Preparing the shelter for nightly service by operating washing machine and dishwasher to clean linens and dishes. Check in shelter guests and put their possessions in the storage area. Assisting volunteers with dinner service Maintain proper documentation, including writing safety reports and completing checklists.
Requirements:
Physical ability to sweep/mop, crouch, stand for long periods, and lift objects up to 40 lbs. High school diploma or equivalent Valid Georgia driver’s license Basic computer skills Emotional ability to work in a stressful environment Schedule will include late afternoon/ evening hours. Must not be a current or past user of Bigger Vision of Athens’s services due to conflict of interest issues.
