HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The ideal candidate provides custodial care for Georgia State University facilities. Cleans and performs room set-ups in assigned building areas following established routines and procedures. In addition to supporting the department Custodian I, assignments will generally fall into one of the following groupings, although overlapping of duties may occur as needed: Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops, scrubs, strips, restores, buffs, and waxes floors, vacuums. Performs other duties needed to maintain the cleanliness of campus floors. Removes trash, cleans counters, equipment, and furnishings. Performs other duties to maintain the cleanliness of laboratories, office areas, classrooms, and other assigned work areas. Cleans and restocks restrooms. Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and other public areas. Handles emergency clean-ups; performs other related work as needed. Must be able to bend, twist, reach overhead, push and pull floor equipment (vacuum cleaner), push and pull large trash barrels, and lift full trash bags weighing 30 pounds. Must possess a normal degree of dexterity. Must have floor technician experience.

  • Employees will use cleaning chemicals daily and sometimes work around potentially dangerous materials in certain laboratories

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting Must be able to lift approximately 30-50 lbs.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Ability to perform heavy lifting when required. Some knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures. Six months of experience using powered cleaning equipment and restoring floors. Experience serving as a lead person on a cleaning team. The ability to follow oral and written instructions. Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in institutional, industrial, or commercial settings. The physical ability needed to perform manual work for an extended period of time. Completion of a documented formal training in facilities course. College/Business Unit Open until filled
