Position:

Summer Custodian Helper Job Goals:

The Summer Custodial Helper provides support to the custodial staff in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly school environment during the summer break. Duties include general cleaning, moving furniture, assisting with light maintenance tasks, and preparing buildings for the upcoming school year.

Experience and Training:

1. Must be at least 16 years of age 2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods 3. Responsible, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team 4. Prior custodial or facilities experience is helpful but not required

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other school facilities 2. Move, set up, and take down furniture and equipment as needed 3. Assist with stripping, waxing, and buffing floors 4. Support minor maintenance tasks under supervision 5. Help with inventory and organization of supplies 6. Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday Between 8:30am to 2:30pm (5.5 hour day) with a half hour unpaid lunch July 1, 2025 through August 16, 2025

Rate of Pay:

$16.00/hour

Physical Requirements:

The position requires the delivery of a full range of custodial services to the public. Several hours a day will be spent walking, standing, sitting, and climbing whenever necessary. Activities include frequent physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending and twisting. This position also requires frequent pulling and pushing materials and the use of hand and power tools. Occasionally, crawling may be necessary. The position requires lifting of objects of 50 pounds on a frequent basis and over 50 pounds occasionally.

Environmental Conditions:

The Custodian is required on occasion to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow and hot/cold extremes. He/she is also exposed to gasoline and/or diesel fumes, cleaning chemicals, and high noise levels. The Custodian is expected to have proper weather gear, rubber gloves and steel toe protection when necessary.
