Job Description
SUMMARY The Cleaning Crewperson is an hourly position that performs the role of general support for all manufacturing processes. This includes execution of special cleaning and maintenance routines, operating high pressure cleaning equipment, operating forklifts, operating label equipment, performing any other tasks supporting the manufacturing processes, participating in Total Productive Maintenance activities, and effectively executing safety, housekeeping, environmental, quality, and waste elimination processes.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Position will include cleaning in wet or dusty areas of plant. Operating Heavy Equipment such as a skid steer, vac truck, fork lift and other tools as necessary to perform following: Cleaning during down days
Cleaning wool & build up out of Bates duct work
Cleaning out of shot pit 2-3 times per week cleaning/changing filters in a Bates Chamber
General Line & Plant cleaning as directed
Wool cleaning including but not limited to collection chamber, under line, edge trim platform
External plant cleaning including but not limited to rock house, APC area, dragline, street sweeping Properly disposes of any wastes generated
Makes proper notification on environmental upset, releases, and/or hazardous material spills according to procedures
Participates in waste elimination processes, including standard work
Checks schedule for label requirements
Disposes of off quality materials, scrap, sludge, and other debris.
Assists with equipment changeovers and cleans equipment as needed
Uses PPE if entry into the system is necessary Notifies appropriate personnel before entry Cleans roof drains
Cleans Tank Farm
Obtains Confined Space Entry permit before opening and entering manhole
Runs high pressure hoses, and uses high pressure spin jets
Uses forklift and scrap hopper
Obtains Confined Space Entry permit
Uses bucket, hoist, and vacuum to remove batch from the pit
Pumps water out when necessary
Cleans with vacuum cleaner, as requested
Blows down some areas when appropriate
Uses lockout/tagout procedures
Cleans Forming Chains
Loads scrap and bales scrap when needed. Empties balers when full.
Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The employee should hold the following abilities: Must be able to read, write and speak English
Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
Must possess strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to obtain a license for forklift
Must have the ability to multi-task
Must have strong internal and external customer service skills
Must work well in team environment
Must be able to work independently
Must have ability to do basic mathematical calculations
Must possess PC operational skills
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
The employee must be able to: Operate a computer or other keyboard instrument
Be proficient in SAP system
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following: Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires: Regular attendance on site and the ability to work varying rotating shifts. The cleaning crew will primarily be a M-F day (E-shift) schedule but when down days arise (not always planned) cleanings of key areas such as Bates or other will need to be performed and this may be during a night shift.
