Position Function:
To perform duties necessary for the routine cleaning and upkeep of buildings.
Salary Grade:
CUS-1 Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are “Unclassified” and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Sweep, dust mop, wet mop and scrub floors. Clean windows, mirrors, walls, doors and other building surfaces. Clean, wax and buff floors. Clean restroom facilities and replenish supplies. Collect trash and empty in trash collection containers. Move furniture, equipment, supplies and other materials as requested. Dust and polish furniture. Report repair needs. Perform minor maintenance and repair duties as directed. May change light bulbs and spray rooms for pests. May vacuum and shampoo carpets. May give work instructions to other Custodians and be responsible for keys and upkeep of a section or a whole building. Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to read and write. Ability to work with others and to receive and follow instructions.-or- Any equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma. Experience in custodial work
