Join our team! Galloway Ridge is an upscale continuing care retirement community located between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro in Chatham County, NC. Under the direction of the Director of Facility Operations and the coordination of work efforts assigned by an EVS coordinator, the Porter is responsible for the overall cleanliness and appearance of the facility. Assist with maintenance duties as required. Assist residents with portage of personal items and assist with move-in preparation, moving furniture, appliances, and possessions. Assist other staff with set-up and tear-down for special functions inside and outside the buildings. The Porter will assist in the removal of trash from the buildings and grounds, perform general floor-care activities, and handle dirty, clean, and soiled linens. This is a full-time position M-F from 8-4:30 primarily. The start time may change based on needs, which could start at 6 am or 7 am. There is also a weekend and holiday rotation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performs general cleaning of facility, grounds, and residences including soiled and clean linen transport, sweeping, tile, carpet and all other floor care, window washing, daily trash removal, residential deep-cleaning program, etc. Maintaining equipment and supplies for efficient and effective job performance. Awareness and reporting of safety related concerns and other duties as assigned by the Director of Facility Operations. All other duties assigned include, but not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.
Requirements:
High school or GED preferred At least 1 year housekeeping/janitorial related experience is preferred. Some on-the-job training will be provided. Preferred knowledge of general housekeeping practices including floor-care equipment, cleaning solutions, and solution mixing procedures. Must be able to follow written or oral instructions. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills and be able to work collaboratively within a diverse work group. • Must be willing to perform duties inside and outside the facility when necessary. Must be able to move heavy objects. Must enjoy working with and have the ability to cooperate with other employees and leadership staff. Must be willing and eager to work with and provide assistance to the residents of the facility. Must have a genuine interest in geriatric care and must believe in and uphold the philosophy of the facility. Must be able to work independently.
