This position performs housekeeping/custodial work, cleaning and performing general maintenance for Cleveland County departments. Additionally, this position will function as a team leader over a small group of housekeepers to ensure compliance and quality of work. The normal work schedule includes Monday through Friday from 6:00AM to 3:00PM.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:
Completes daily cleaning duties of the county buildings Instruct housekeeping team in on-the-job cleaning procedures and techniques, special procedures, or problems. Responsible for unlocking and locking county buildings to complete housekeeping duties. Go to the post office daily to pick up county mail. Adjust assignments or cleaning schedule of team members to ensure adequate coverage as absences or emergencies may require. Observes, inspects, and monitors quality and quantity of work while in progress or upon completion; advice on additional or corrective cleaning applications as needed. Reports unresolved problems to Maintenance Director. Prepares requisitions and obtains cleaning supplies and materials; distributes supplies as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisors and Managers play a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency, team productivity, and organizational success. Divisional supervision is exercised over the housekeeping staff. Key areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to: Team Management, Performance Monitoring & Feedback, Training & Development, Onboarding, Recommendations about Disciplinary Actions, Compliance & Policy Adherence, Problem Solving & Communication, and Workforce Planning & Delegation.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience working as a custodian, housekeeper, or building cleaning, AND one (1) year of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in stripping, buffing, waxing, finishing floors and operating a professional flooring machine preferred, but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Ability to identify cleaning needs and address with appropriate methods and supplies. Ability to perform manual labor requiring continuous physical effort. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate professionally, both orally and in writing. Ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies. Ability to deal courteously with staff. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with director, team members and other employees. Ability to motivate staff and ensure positive, collaborative, and professional working relations among staff. Work Environment /

Work Location:
This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.
