Custodian (School Based)

• General Statement of Job:

• Under general supervision performs a variety of generalcustodialand lightgroundskeeping work inthecare and maintenance of assignedolbuildings and facilities.

Work involves sweeping, mopping andusingvacuumcleanersto clean floors, washing walls,woodworkand fixtures, and policing buildings to empty trash receptacles and pick up debris, etc.

Employeeis also responsible for requisitioning necessary cleaning supplies.

• SpecificDuties and ResponsibilitiesEssentialJob Functions:

• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, strips, waxes and buffsfloorsurfaces according to maintenance department policies
• Cleans restroom areas and replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary
• Cleanswindows,walls,woodwork, blinds,andligh
• t fixtures
• Dustsandcleansdesksand other furnitureandallother horizontal surfaces
• Cleans and replaces filters for HVAC units in classrooms
• Emptiestrash receptacles; deposits recyclable material in proper receptacles
• Sweeps sidewalks and walkwaysoutsideof buildings; polices grounds, picking up debris;shovels snow and
• /•or applies de-icingcompoundsto walkways and driveways, as necessary•Mov•e /•arrange furnitureasneeded: chairs, student desks,smallshelves,filingcabinets•Disposeofused cleaning materials such asdumpingmop buckets and wash pails•Replaces burned-out light bulbs•Replaces damaged ceiling tiles as needed•Sets traps forrodentsand otherpests, appropriately discarding trapped animals•Push/pullaloaded hand cart•Unload delivery trucks•

Additional Job Functions:

• Raisesandlowersflagsatstart and end of workday
• May open andsecurebuildings at start and endofworkday,respectively
• May turn on and off lightsatstart and end of workday; respectively; and adjust heating and air conditioning, as appropriate
• Performs related work as required
• Mustbeable to perform custodial duties asrequiredafter hours as needed

• MinimumTrainingand Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Some experience in custodial work;or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills,and abilities

• Minimum Qualification or Standards Required toperformEssential Job Functions

• Physical Requirements:

• Mustbephysically able to operate vacuum cleaners,carpet shampooers,brooms,mop,leaf blowers, buffers, etc
• Must be able to lift or pushupto 50 pounds occasionally,and
• /•orup to 25 pounds frequently,and•/•orupto 10 pounds constantly to move objects•Physical demand requirementsarefrommedium work•Must be abletoclimb a ladder•
