DEFINITION

Oversee all facets of custodial operations at your designated campus. Support the leadership, assessment, and review of custodial services’ activities and operations, which include developing service levels and maintaining the grounds. Collaborate with various departments, divisions, and external agencies to create a comfortable working and learning environment for all CFCC stakeholders. Supervise the assigned staff by managing, staffing, coaching, disciplining, scheduling, timekeeping, and fulfilling other personnel duties. Step in to complete relevant work tasks when staff are absent and provide essential administrative support to the Director of Custodial Services. Ensure the overall effectiveness and productivity of your team.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions:

Supervise custodial staff per college policies and laws. Assist in planning and implementing custodial services goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Organize MSDS sheet storage. Assign work activities; monitor workflow and evaluate outcomes. Assist in budget planning for staffing, equipment, and supplies; monitor expenditures. Complete paperwork for hiring in collaboration with HR and Payroll. Participate in employee interviews, training, and performance evaluations; address complaints and resolve issues. Track timesheets, approve leave requests, and complete incident reports for custodial staff. Monitor inventory control and estimate project costs for supplies and equipment. Schedule custodial tasks including cleaning, maintenance, and deep cleaning. Ensure custodial equipment is maintained; report needs for repairs. Monitor CFCC building cleanliness and serve as the point of contact for campus events. Collaborate with leadership to supervise events and daily custodial operations. Suggest improvements for efficiency and service quality; motivate staff for high standards. Provide technical assistance and gather information for purchase requisitions. Maintain custodial operations budgets and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards. Assist with safety training and maintain office files. Complete reports on work activities and assist with audits; provide updates to leadership as needed.

Other Important Functions:

Participates in committees as requested. Engages in relevant professional development to stay updated on management topics, new trends, and future innovations; attends professional conferences and workshops. Works alongside Human Resources to examine complaints and takes necessary corrective actions to address them. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:

Principles, practices, methods, equipment, and maintenance and cleaning techniques. Organizational and management practices as applied to analyzing and evaluating programs, policies, and operational needs. Principles and practices of organization, administration, and personnel management. Use and maintenance of a variety of industrial cleaning equipment. Proper and safe use and storage of cleaning compounds. OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard as it relates to SDSs. Hazards and safety precautions related to general maintenance and custodial activities. Budget development and management. Work order system or CMMS. Principles and practices of inventory control and recordkeeping. Principles of supervision, training, and employee performance evaluations. Modern computer systems and office productivity tools. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Outlook. Applicable fire and safety rules and regulations.

Ability To:

Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations supporting the department’s goals. Effectively develop, implement, and evaluate programs and strategies designed to create and maintain a safe, functional, secure, and orderly facility that can be operated efficiently and economically. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Minimum Education/Training:

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience :

At least four years of experience in general janitorial and cleaning services with knowledge of floor maintenance and chemical use in cleaning. At least one year of supervisory experience.

License or Certificate:

Must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid NC Driver’s License within 60 days of being hired.

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills :

Specialized training or courses from a technical school relevant to the position. Associate’s degree and/or technical certifications relevant to the position are highly preferred.
