This role includes daily cleaning of high-traffic areas, restrooms, classrooms, and performance spaces, as well as periodic deep-cleaning and floor maintenance tasks. The Custodian plays a key role in ensuring that MCMS provides a welcoming, professional, and sanitary environment for students, staff, families, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities General Facility Cleaning:
Main Areas – Hallways, Lobby, Entrances, Stairs Sweep and mop all hard floors Dust surfaces and fixtures Empty and dispose of trash properly Bathrooms (4 Total) Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, and mirrors Mop floors thoroughly Restock toilet paper, paper towels, and soap Empty trash and diaper pails Classrooms Dust furniture, shelves, and equipment Sweep, vacuum, and/or mop floors Empty trash bins Recital Hall Sweep and mop floor Dust surfaces, including stage and equipment areas Staff Lounge Sweep and mop floor Empty trash receptacles Periodic / Annual Duties Wax floors as scheduled Buff and wax gym floor (annually) Assist with special cleaning projects as needed (e.g., seasonal events or deep cleaning) Qualifications Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and respectful of the school environment Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods Strong commitment to cleanliness, safety, and professionalism Schedule Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3 hours/day Hours are flexible between 6:00am – 11:00PM $18/hr.
