Students will benefit from a well-rounded, rigorous STEM Education leading to a professional certification in the medical field. Through individualized planning and attention, graduates will have the academic skills necessary to be successful in college and careers, and the tools necessary to enter the workforce or enroll in college.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/ Objective Haven Charter High School is the first SUNY-authorized Career and Technical Education (CTE) high school in NYC focused on the Health Sciences sector. Opening in July 2025 with an inaugural class of 120 9th graders, Haven will offer students real pathways to both college and career success. The Custodian at Haven Charter School is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the school campus. This role involves daily cleaning, sanitizing, and minor maintenance of classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, common areas and outdoor spaces. Custodians ensure that school facilities are ready for use by students, staff, and visitors by following cleaning schedules, responding to urgent cleaning needs, and supporting school events. Custodians play a key role in upholding the school’s health and safety standards. Essential Functions and Responsibilities The Custodian is responsible for supporting the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the school environment by performing routine and specialized cleaning and maintenance tasks. This role ensures all school areas are prepared and maintained for daily academic and extracurricular activities, contributing to a welcoming and secure learning atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors. Under the supervision of the Director of Operations the Facility manager will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: Oversee and carry out routine cleaning, minor maintenance and sanitation tasks are in accordance with established procedures. Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, hallways and all school public areas using school-approved products and safety protocol. Dust and clean surfaces including furniture, fixtures and windows; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty trash receptacles. Perform minor maintenance or repairs (replace light bulbs; tightening lose fixtures, address minor restroom clogs and blockages) and restocking restroom paper supplies and other consumables. Assist in preparing school spaces for classroom use, meetings, assemblies, events, and other school functions. Respond to immediate needs in day-to-day operations as requested by Supervisor Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as buffers, auto scrubbers, vacuums, pressure washers, and hand tools for upkeep of floors, walls, furniture, and common areas. Clear snow, ice, and debris from outdoor parking lot, walkways, sidewalks and stairs near the school building using shovels or small power equipment. Move and set-up furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed for classroom transitions or events. Education / Experience
