If so, then we have the perfect opportunity for you! We are seeking a Custodian who will perform custodial and maintenance duties on the Wingate residential property located at Schenectady, NY.

Position Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for keeping exteriors, common areas, vacant units, sidewalks and alleyways of property in a clean and safe condition and will assist in other types of basic maintenance, when necessary. Expected to perform all custodial and maintenance duties in a professional manner and on a timely basis.

Main Job Responsibilities:

Cleans all hallways, stairwells, common areas, model, vacant apartments, parking areas, sidewalks and alleyways, on-site management offices, mailbox areas, elevators and laundry rooms Maintains grounds (Lawn care, snow removal, litter clean-up) Assists with miscellaneous social program activities (e.g., set-up, pick-ups, clean-ups, etc.) Maintains appliances and plumbing Assists in inventory control of all janitorial equipment and supplies Assists with painting, as directed Replaces burnt-out bulbs Checks locks while working in specific areas Reports maintenance problem areas ASAP Additional tasks as assigned by

Your Success Required Education and Experience:

High school education or equivalent Full-time janitorial experience

Essential Skills and Abilities:

Plumbing aptitude Mechanical aptitude Good safety habits Is familiar with power, water and gas turnoffs, clean out traps, fire extinguishers, fire systems Knows emergency numbers (e.g., police, fire department, manager, maintenance supervisor) Is able to be on-call for emergency duty Ability to work independently and willingness to learn Must have good communication abilities
