Custodian Annunciation BVM Church 65 North St Apt 3, Mc Sherrystown, PA 17344 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian. The person would be responsible for cleaning and maintaining both the church and the parish office. The position requires varying degrees of physical exertion, including lifting (at least 50 lbs.), climbing stairs and operating cleaning equipment. Additionally, they would be responsible for monitoring heating and cooling systems and creating a maintenance schedule. The willingness to maintain confidentiality is essential. Responsibilities Performing basic janitorial functions such as vacuuming, dusting, polishing furniture, mopping/sweeping floors, washing windows, maintaining bathroom facilities, emptying trash, etc. Monitor heating and cooling systems Notifying the pastor of necessary repairs beyond own capacity Ordering and maintaining stock of cleaning supplies Performing general grounds-keeping chores such as trimming shrubbery, raking leaves, gardening and removal of snow and other debris (mowing not included) Ensuring general security of buildings and grounds Other related tasks as assigned Qualifications Previous experience in custodial or commercial cleaning is preferred but not required. Familiarity with industrial cleaning practices and facilities maintenance is a plus. Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness. Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively. Excellent organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. A proactive attitude towards maintaining a clean and safe environment for all users of the facility. Willingness to learn new techniques related to custodial services, including floor care methods.
