CUSTODIAN Description:
Entry level position in the Maintenance Department. Duties include general interior and exterior work that is necessary for the upkeep of RHA buildings, grounds and property. This job is physical in nature and requires exposure to the exterior elements.

Hourly Working hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (routine), with flexibility in scheduling at agency discretion between 6:00am and 6:00pm in accordance with Union Agreement. Essential Functions Strip, seal and wax floors. Clean and restock bathrooms and offices. Vacuum carpets, mats & upholstered furniture. Dust office equipment. Wash windows. Clean appliances. May assist in vacant unit turnover. Wash vehicles and other equipment. Clean exterior areas, including streets, playgrounds, parking lots and other public areas. Clean and organize trash collection sites. Rake leaves. Cut grass. Shovel snow and spread salt. Related work as required.
Qualifications:
Requires a PA Driver’s License. Minimum of 1-year prior custodial experience (waxing, stripping, buffing and polishing floors).Minimum of 1-year prior custodial experience (waxing, stripping, buffing and polishing floors). Minimum of 1-year prior experience operating small gas-powered lawn, garden and snow removal equipment. Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English. Ability to enter data into a computer and/or tablet. Ability to operate small/gas- powered lawn & garden equipment. Ability to perform physical job requirements, bending, twisting, reaching and lifting/moving up to 50 lbs. Ability to tolerate weather conditions, walk large campuses and go up and down ladders. Excellent attendance record. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Self-starter and team player. Ability to communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
