The Utility Worker provides patients, visitors, and co-workers with outstanding customer service. Performs all necessary cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, dishware, pots, rolling stock, and all other environmental cleaning and trash removal in Nutrition Services. Assures that all dishwashing, cart washing, tray and prep service stations are cleaned to department standards. Helps to trains employees in the proper use of cleaning agents and methods of cleaning and sanitizing. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs all daily cleaning and sanitizing before the end of scheduled shift. Assures that all Food Servers and Dishroom personnel follow proper cleaning procedures and works cooperatively and compatibly with them to assure that all dishwashing and cleaning is complete and accurate. Washes pots correctly using 3 sink procedure. Maintains the supply of clean pots and utensils for food preparers and servers. Demonstrates the proper use of all chemicals and cleaning tools. Understands and safely performs the following cleaning: Cleans floor mats and places them back in proper area, Washes floors in the walk‑in refrigerators, cleans racks in refrigerators and pot & pan racks, washes walls around pot sink area, Racks under pot shelves, wall around pot sink, cleans and de‑scales dishmachine. Checks leftovers before discarding. Tells Chef of problems or excess waste. Reports damaged or unsafe equipment or structure immediately. Accurately fills in on Trucks, receiving, cafeteria, or beltline when needed. Demonstrates/models the hospitals core values and customer service behaviors. Perform Additional Duties as needed.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Walking, standing or bending for 5 to 7 hours per day, 2 hours at a time; walking 2 hours and 30 minutes. Frequently uses fingering and handling for picking up objects, such as: dishes, pots, pans, brushes, scrub pads, etc. Occasionally needs firm grasping and twisting/turning. Uses upper extremities to lift 26 to 75 lbs. occasionally. Employee is required to carry 26 to 50 lbs. occasionally, push 76 to 100 lbs. occasionally and pull 26 to 50 lbs. When performing duties & responsiblilites, employee must have the ability to stoop/bend, crouch, reach above shoulder level frequently. Employee should be able to feel, hear normal conversation and have general vision.
