Job Summary:
The lead Custodian is responsible for overseeing the custodial staff and ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation and overall maintenance of assigned facilities. The position serves as a primary contact for custodial operations, providing direction, training and support to custodial employees while also performing regular custodial duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the work of custodial staff, including scheduling, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance. Train new custodial employees and cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and the use of equipment and supplies. Inspect facilities to ensure proper cleaning and maintenance standards are met. Perform custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, restroom sanitation, and replenishing of supplies. Report maintenance issues and follow-up to ensure timely repairs. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Order materials as needed. Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation Regulations. Respond to emergency cleanup needs, including spills and weather-related conditions. Communicate regularly with the facility management regarding custodial operations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years of custodial experience with at least one year of some type of leading supervisory role preferred. Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment. Good communication and organizational skills. Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods and work in a physically demanding environment. Must pass background check Must pass tuberculosis screening prior to start date Working conditions: Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a variety of conditions. Exposure to cleaning chemicals and machinery. May require use of personal protective equipment, (PPE).
