Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Floor Technician’s role is to perform periodic advanced floor care duties to include stripping, dressing, buffing and waxing of hard floors, carpet extraction and shampooing, and terrazzo maintenance, carpet cleaning, pressure washing, special cleanings and other projects as assigned.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Vacuum, clean and extract carpeted floor surfaces. Dry and wet mop hard-surface floors. Mixes chemicals needed to perform duties. Performs periodic routine maintenance of equipment required to perform tasks. Insure that all equipment is kept clean, and report any malfunctions or safety hazards to the Supervisor. Spray buff hard surface floors. Refinish hard surfaces. Performs machine pressure washing and reclaims water. All other duties as defined by supervisor.

PRIMARY RESULTS ACCOUNTABLE FOR ACHIEVING

Other more specific results will be assigned and measured. Must become familiar with cleaning chemical components and safety requirements. Ability to maintain confidentiality. EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1 year of experience in the cleaning and/or janitorial arenas Versed in safety requirements, equipment use, scheduling and training.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Required to spend on-the-job time on the following physical activities: Stand Walk Lift/Climb Talk/Hear Use hands to finger, handle or feel Reach with hands or arms The Weight or Force requirement in this position is: Up to 40 pounds

VISION REQUIREMENT

This position requires to have close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), and color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
