Position Summary:
The University Janitorial group is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across campus facilities, including academic buildings, offices, restrooms, laboratories, andmon areas. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a weing and well-maintained campus for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
(Floor Techs)
Perform routine and deep cleaning of various flooring surfaces, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, and polishing.
Operate and maintain floor care equipment such as auto scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors, and burnishers.
Conduct scheduled floor maintenance, including ing sealants, coatings, and protectants to prolong floor lifespan.
Perform carpet cleaning tasks, including shampooing, spot treatment, and extraction.
Identify and address stains, damage, and wear on flooring surfaces, reporting any major repairs needed.
Ensurepliance with health and safety regulations, including the proper handling and storage of chemicals and equipment.
Work closely with custodial and facilities staff to coordinate floor care schedules and minimize disruptions to campus operations.
Assist in moving furniture and equipment as needed for floor maintenance.
Respond to emergency spills and floor-related hazards promptly to ensure a safe environment.
Maintain accurate records of floor care activities and supply usage.
Perform additional custodial tasks as assigned to support university facilities.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus, especially in an educational or institutional setting.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety procedures is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Goodmunication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with students, faculty, and staff.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Work Environment:
This position requires working in various indoor and outdoor settings across campus, including classrooms, laboratories, athletic facilities, and administrative offices. Custodians may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures.
