POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Facility Services Manager position at the YMCA of Sumter maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. This position is responsible for internal and exterior upkeep of all branch property and facilities to ensure quality appearance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Recruit, orient, supervise, train, evaluate and reward (ROSTER process), including administrative duties; create work schedules and quarterly team meetings. Approve custodial staff timecards and ensure an accurate recording of hours. Conduct and document regular performance reviews for custodial team members. Create and manage scheduled work and host quarterly team meetings. Manages custodial checklists and ensures quality standards for across all shifts. Fill in or reassign tasks when a custodian is absent to ensure continuity of service. (Facility Services Manager performs duties on that person’s checklist if custodial member is not present) Respond promptly to emergencies or immediate clean-up needs even if not checklist. (Immediate safety or member service needs are crucial) Reports on facility or equipment issues to the Operations Executive. Follow business office protocol of ordering custodial supplies and/or maintenance of custodial equipment. Keep storage areas clean, organized in all areas of building and locked at all times. Conduct daily inspections of the cleanliness of facility and grounds, including all trash receptacles. Inspect facilities and grounds daily for litter/debris to include all trashcans. Maintain order in all rooms, spaces, closets, etc. by organizing, labeling and inspecting. Sweep, mop, dust, clean, vacuum, empty trash, clean restrooms, clean showers and other specific duties to ensure facilities and grounds are maintained at a high-quality appearance. Perform simple repairs as needed including assisting maintenance and program directors upon request Monitor locker rentals and laundry services usage, ensuring documentation and proper payment are received. Ensure cleanliness and organization of general population areas. Complete weekly facility inspections and report work orders to Operations Executive. Maintain a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity or potential child abuse concerns in alignment with the YMCA code of conduct. Support & assist leadership as requested. Follows guidelines established in the YMCA’s Safety & Risk Management

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Graduate or equivalent. Minimum of one-year customer service experience. Knowledge of custodial care. Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner. Ability to work efficiently independently and as part of a team. Display a personal commitment to consistent quality customer service & facility care.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sight, Hearing, Speaking. Standing, Walking, Stooping, Kneeling, Squatting, Climbing, Sitting. Lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 lbs. Pulling a minimum of 100 lbs. Assuring a clean, safe and well maintained YMCA. Positive attitude and enthusiastic performance of duties. Attention to detail and follow through in execution of all job components. Exceptional attendance. Viewed by members, participants and fellow staff as being helpful and supportive. Effectiveness will also be measured by the extent of which the incumbent is a supportive staff member achieving the overall goals of the YMCA of Sumter Association.
