Custodial Supervisor Quality Staffing Nashville, TN 37214 Quality Staffing, Inc., also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search, a leading full-service employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the area’s top companies, is seeking an experienced Custodial Worker Supervisor to work through our agency as a contract employee with the State of Tennessee School for the Blind (TN TSB) located in Nashville, TN . This is an on-site position working the 1st shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday for a total of 37.5 hours per week. The pay rate for this position is $28.50 per hour.
Custodial Supervisor Job Description:
The Tennessee School for the Blind is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodial Worker Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the custodial staff to ensure all school district facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. This role involves supervising custodial personnel, coordinating cleaning schedules, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Custodial Supervisor Job Duties and Responsibilities will include: Supervising, training, and evaluating custodial staff to ensure efficient and effective cleaning and maintenance of school facilities. Developing and implementing cleaning schedules and procedures to meet district standards. Monitoring staff performance, providing feedback, and addressing any disciplinary issues. Coordinating with school administrators and district officials regarding facility needs and maintenance schedules. Inspecting buildings regularly to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards are met. Ordering supplies, equipment, and cleaning products needed for custodial operations. Enforcing safety procedures and ensuring staff adherence to district policies and safety regulations. Responding to maintenance emergencies and coordinating urgent repairs as needed. Keeping accurate records of custodial activities, inventories, and work orders. Assisting in the recruitment and onboarding of custodial staff. Promoting a positive work environment and teamwork among custodial staff. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed for Custodial Worker position:
Knowledge:
Understanding of cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, and safety protocols applicable to school environments. Knowledge of building maintenance and repair practices. Familiarity with custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning chemicals. Understanding of district policies, health and safety regulations, and OSHA standards. Knowledge of inventory management and supply ordering. Awareness of emergency procedures and protocols related to school safety.
Skills:
Strong leadership and supervisory skills to effectively manage custodial staff. Excellent organizational and planning skills to coordinate cleaning schedules and maintenance activities. Good communication skills to interact effectively with staff, students, and district personnel. Ability to train and motivate staff to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. Problem-solving skills to address maintenance issues and operational challenges. Ability to interpret and follow safety and cleaning procedures accurately.
Ability:
Supervise, train, and evaluate custodial staff. Prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. Inspect school facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance. Operate and troubleshoot custodial equipment. Enforce safety policies and procedures. Adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism. Qualifications Required and Additional Information for Custodial Worker position: Experience equivalent to four (4) years of increasingly responsible full-time custodial work including, at least, two (2) years of supervisory experience. Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Selected applicants must verify experience/highest degree held. Must have a valid driver’s license. Strong leadership and supervisory skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize task and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA training) are a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Diligent with great attention to detail. Duties will be performed primarily on the school premises. May require occasional after-hours or weekend work for special events or emergencies. Occasional travel may be required for training or conferences. Perform other duties as assigned. The Tennessee School for the Blind is a non-smoking facility in its entirety.
