General Description:
Custodial Worker Supervisor 2 is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the custodial staff to ensure that all school district facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. This role involves supervising custodial personnel, coordinating cleaning schedules, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise, train, and evaluate custodial staff to ensure efficient and effective cleaning and maintenance of school facilities. Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to meet district standards. Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and address any disciplinary issues. Coordinate with school administrators and district officials regarding facility needs and maintenance schedules. Inspect buildings regularly to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards are met. Order supplies, equipment, and cleaning products needed for custodial operations. Enforce safety procedures and ensure staff adherence to district policies and safety regulations. Respond to maintenance emergencies and coordinate urgent repairs as needed. Keep accurate records of custodial activities, inventories, and work orders. Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of custodial staff. Promote a positive work environment and teamwork among custodial staff. Other Functions Primarily performed on school premises. May require occasional after-hours or weekend work for special events or emergencies. Occasional travel may be required for training or conferences. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualification Experience equivalent to four years of increasingly responsible full-time custodial work including, at least, two years of supervisory experience. Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Strong leadership and supervisory skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA training) are a plus. Proficient in MS Office. Outstanding organizational skills; diligent with great attention to detail. Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, and safety protocols applicable to school environments. Knowledge of building maintenance and repair practices. Familiarity with custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning chemicals. Understanding of district policies, health and safety regulations, and OSHA standards. Knowledge of inventory management and supply ordering. Awareness of emergency procedures and protocols related to school safety.
SKILLS:
Strong leadership and supervisory skills to effectively manage custodial staff. Excellent organizational and planning skills to coordinate cleaning schedules and maintenance activities. Good communication skills to interact effectively with staff, students, and district personnel. Ability to train and motivate staff to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. Problem-solving skills to address maintenance issues and operational challenges. Ability to interpret and follow safety and cleaning procedures accurately.
ABILITY:
Supervise, train, and evaluate custodial staff. Prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. Inspect school facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance. Operate and troubleshoot custodial equipment. Enforce safety policies and procedures. Adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
Additional Information:
Selected applicants must verify experience/highest degree held. Direct deposit of paycheck on a 12-month schedule is required. TSB is a non-smoking facility in its entirety. The selected applicant must comply with the State of Tennessee Employee Drug-Free Workplace Policy, and other policies.
