This position is under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor or designee. Duties The Environmental Services (EVS) Technician major duties include but are not limited to: Performs the full range of cleaning tasks requiring use of powered cleaning equipment. Uses cleaning chemicals. Make beds, change linens, collect soiled linens, deliver clean linen and supplies. Remove, transport, repackage, dispose and store general waste, reguled medical waste, chemotherapeutic waste and radioactive waste Check and replenish consumable supplies in the course of cleaning and servicing rooms and areas within the Medical Center. Remove, transport, repackage, dispose and store sharps as a part of service rendered to clinics in pient rooms, and may replace filled sharps containers with empty containers.

PHYSICAL EFFORT

The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessite considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordinion, and concentrion as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed indoors with adeque he, light, and ventilion. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposed to varying degrees of he and cold as well as inclement weher. PPE may be required in some circumstance as exposure to possible contagious diseases, blood and bloody secretion are inherent to this position.
