Your Role The Custodian is responsible for maintaining and cleaning the shared commercial kitchen and facility by completing a variety of duties to ensure the facility is compliant with regulations and meets the highest quality and food safety standards. Responsibilities Routine cleaning, degreasing and sanitizing of all areas of the kitchen facility. Duties may include but are not limited to: kitchen prep tables; storage areas; baking and prep equipment; kitchen walls, fixtures and windows Clean and sanitize bathroom areas including replenishing and stocking toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, etc. Disposal of trash, recycling and compost and maintenance of trash and waste receptacles Sweep and mop all floor areas Deep cleaning of kitchen equipment, including shelving, racks, vent hood, dishroom and floors Simple maintenance of equipment including changing batteries, replacing HVAC filters, minor repairs and upkeep Monitor kitchen and chemical supplies and ensure that stations remain stocked Regularly communicate with kitchen supervisor about supply and chemical needs Follow procedures for the use of food-safe chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to equipment and fixtures Monitor and clean storage areas to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and prevent cross-contamination Maintain outdoor areas including trash pickup, weed removal and compost management Ensure kitchen meets all health and safety standards Provide the highest quality service for our clients Requirements A passion for food service and commitment to helping the community. Proven experience in maintaining a clean work environment within the food service industry. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
