Sanitation Worker Westminster Cracker Company, I Rutland, VT
POSITION SUMMARY
: The Sanitation Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the production facility in compliance with company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), FDA, and food safety regulations. The Sanitation Worker will dismantle, dry-clean, wet-clean, inspect, and reassemble machines and equipment as directed. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for food production at Westminster Cracker Company.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily cleaning and sanitation of areas of the production facility including, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, trash removal, dry-clean, and wet-clean of areas and items. Restock supplies for facilities as needed. Follow detailed cleaning checklists and safety procedures while using cleaning chemicals and tools. Disassemble plant equipment and protect sensitive equipment from damage during sanitation process. Dismantle and reassemble equipment for thorough cleaning, ensuring safe and proper handling of parts. Conduct routine inspections of cleaned areas and equipment to verify compliance with cleanliness and sanitation standards. Maintain accurate records of daily cleaning activities and chemical usage. Notify supervisors of any maintenance issues or unsafe conditions encountered during sanitation activities. Assist with pest control, waste disposal, and proper storage of cleaning materials. Support production changeovers and line sanitation between product runs. Comply with all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). Participate in safety and sanitation training sessions and audits. Wear applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow GMPs at all times (Safety Glasses, Gloves, Apron). Undergo training for process of incorporating basic preventative maintenance duties in the sanitation procedure. Work on the production line, as needed. This includes completing production of dough using machinery, batch processing of baked crackers and cookies, package finished goods according to specifications, inspect the product to oversee product quality assurance. Train new employees on process and procedures, if necessary. Perform all duties in a safe manner, follow and understand all safety rules as listed within the company safety manual, Good Manufacturing Practices, standard operating procedures, work instructions, training, and OSHA compliance. Attend and participate in staff meetings, company-wide meetings, internal/external training as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior experience in food manufacturing or industrial sanitation preferred. Ability to read and follow written instructions, including cleaning procedures and safety data sheets (SDS). Comfortable working in wet, humid, and temperature-variable environments. Physically able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop, climb, and stand for extended periods. Team-oriented with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and cleanliness. Willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
