custodian 4-12 Windham Southeast Supervisory Union Brattleboro, VT 05301 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in various facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants. This position requires a proactive approach to cleaning and maintenance tasks, with an emphasis on high standards of hygiene and presentation. Duties Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming in designated areas. Conduct floor care tasks such as buffing and waxing to maintain the appearance of surfaces. Execute custodial responsibilities in both residential and commercial settings, ensuring all areas are clean and well-maintained. Assist with facilities maintenance tasks as needed, including minor repairs and upkeep of equipment. Carry out industrial cleaning duties in accordance with safety guidelines and protocols. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report any shortages or needs for replenishment. Follow established procedures for cleaning hazardous materials or spills to ensure safety compliance. Collaborate with team members to complete larger cleaning projects efficiently. Experience Previous experience in custodial or janitorial roles is preferred but not required; training will be provided. Familiarity with facilities maintenance practices is a plus. Knowledge of residential painting techniques is beneficial for occasional touch-up work. Experience in commercial cleaning environments is advantageous. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication skills.
