The Assistant Kitchen Director plays a vital leadership role in supporting the Kitchen Director with all back-of-house operations, ensuring high standards of food safety, quality, speed, and cleanliness. This individual helps lead, coach, and develop the kitchen team, and is expected to model Chick-fil-A’s core values of excellence, stewardship, and care.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership Assist in managing daily kitchen operations to meet Chick-fil-A quality and service standards Monitor food safety, preparation procedures, cleanliness, and labor efficiency Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations Maintain kitchen organization and inventory systems Team Development & Supervision Train, mentor, and coach kitchen team members Provide real-time feedback and conduct performance check-ins Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and a strong work ethic Assist in scheduling kitchen staff and managing shift coverage Quality & Speed Execution Oversee food production to ensure accuracy, consistency, and speed Collaborate with front-of-house and leadership to ensure seamless service Support order fulfillment efficiency Stewardship & Cost Control Assist in managing food cost, portion control, and waste reduction Help track kitchen inventory, place orders, and receive shipments Steward company equipment and supplies responsibly
Qualifications:
Prior kitchen leadership experience required Strong understanding of food safety procedures (ServSafe certification a plus) Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
