A Coordinator’s two main areas of focus are completing tasks so that the restaurant runs effectively, and coaching/developing team members. Coordinators lead by example and set the tone that others will follow.

Coordinator Responsibilities:

Participating operationally in day-to-day activities in high-volume, fast-paced restaurant Offer immediate and respectful response to every guest’s needs Assist in training of new hires, set the tone for a shift, and act as a role model for the team Be a friendly, encouraging team player Open/close and lead shifts, be a responsible key holder Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken Effectively communicates with staff and leadership about position needs to ensure orders are prepared on time and to Chick-fil-A’s quality standards

Back of House Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking:

Oversee the preparation of ingredients and the cooking of food, ensuring that all items meet Chick-fil-A’s standards for quality, taste, and presentation. Manage the preparation of all raw chicken, freezer inventory and freshness, and refrigerator inventory and freshness Ensure that all items are cooked to the correct food safety specifications and that food is consistently fresh and flavorful. Maintain control over cooking times to ensure that food is prepared correctly and efficiently, without overcooking or undercooking.

Food Safety & Sanitation:

Ensure that all back kitchen areas and equipment are cleaned and sanitized regularly, in compliance with Chick-fil-A food safety guidelines and health department regulations. Monitor food storage, ensuring that ingredients are properly labeled, rotated, and stored at the correct temperatures. Maintain a safe kitchen environment by adhering to OSHA guidelines and promoting safe practices in food handling and kitchen operations. Managing Kitchen Inventory (Back of House): Track inventory levels for food supplies (e.g., chicken, sauces, produce) and coordinate with management to place orders as necessary. Oversee stock rotation and ensure that ingredients are used before their expiration dates to minimize waste. Ensure that all necessary kitchen tools and equipment (grills, fryers, prep tables) are operational and maintained to prevent downtime. Responsible for the functioning and upkeep of the breading area as a whole, thaw cabinets, machines/grills in the breading area and the freezer, i.e. the general upkeep of the necessary equipment such as boil-outs and ensuring filter lock-outs are being performed correctly, cleanliness, appropriately utilizing FIFO and LEAN procedures, and proper chicken rotation. Team Leadership & Development (Back of House): Supervise kitchen staff involved in food prep and cooking, providing guidance on efficient techniques, quality control, and food safety. Offer hands-on training for kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, equipment usage, and food safety. Ensure staff is working together in a coordinated way to maximize efficiency, minimize delays, and maintain high-quality standards. Address any operational challenges in the kitchen, such as equipment malfunctions or staffing issues, to ensure smooth and uninterrupted food production.

Operational Support & Communication:

Communicate effectively with both the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to ensure smooth order flow and accurate communication of guest needs. Coordinate with restaurant management to resolve any operational challenges and ensure that all staff are working effectively during high-volume periods. Work together to adjust staffing levels as necessary to accommodate peak business hours or special events. Support the restaurant’s overall cleanliness and safety initiatives by adhering to policies regarding equipment care, safety protocols, and maintaining a tidy work environment.

Problem Solving & Adaptability:

Troubleshoot challenges as they arise—whether in the food preparation process, team performance, or operational bottlenecks—and adjust strategies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Remain flexible and adaptable to changing demands, including stepping into different roles as needed during peak hours or when staff members are unavailable.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Always demonstrate the CORE 4: Smile, Eye Contact, Speak Enthusiastically, Always say My Pleasure Reliable transportation Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a kitchen or food service role, with supervisory or leadership responsibilities in a fast-paced environment is preferred Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food preparation, and food safety standards. Ability to prepare food items to Chick-fil-A’s quality and consistency standards, with experience working in a high-volume kitchen. Proficient in cooking techniques, food portioning, and working with kitchen equipment. Ability to effectively communicate with kitchen staff, management, and front-of-house team members to ensure a smooth flow of operations. Able to address issues as they arise in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring minimal disruption to kitchen or restaurant operations. Strong ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and keep work areas organized to maintain high efficiency in the kitchen. High attention to detail when it comes to food preparation, order accuracy, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen.
