Retail Food Specialist Position Available In St. Johns, Florida

Retail Food Specialist Hot Stuff and The Key Lime Shop Saint Augustine, FL 32084 We are looking for a part-time addition to join our dedicated, food-loving, family-first team! We’re a small, locally-owned business in the heart of Downtown St. Augustine, and we operate a joint pair of specialty food shops. Expertise in food and beverages not essential, but a love of food and chatting about recipes and new ideas will help a lot! While the owners are in regularly and offer remote support at all times, this position is highly independent and self-driven. Each team member typically runs the shop solo on their assigned day. We believe in treating everyone with dignity, respect, and honesty, and we expect the same integrity from our team members. Starting pay rate for the role will be $15/hr, plus 100% of any tips made. We prefer W2 employees, but can consider 1099 options if needed. Payroll is every two weeks, direct deposit or paper check at employee’s preference. Other bonuses, perks, and incentives may be awarded on occasion throughout the year.

Responsibilities :

• Greeting and assisting customers in the shop, answering questions, making recommendations, and otherwise enhancing their experience.
• Assisting with taste tests and educating customers about our local product lineup.
• Overseeing transactions and POS duties.
• General cleaning and upkeep of the storefront and kitchen area.

Note:

we are a certified kitchen, but we do not have a stove, grease trap, or other QSR style equipment to deal with.)

• Some food preparation, primarily finishing touches to vendor products. (Training provided.)
• Opening and closing procedures, including cash drawer reconciliation, trash removal, lockup, etc.
• Receiving shipments and stocking goods in a neat and attractive way.
• Other duties and opportunities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications :

• High-School Degree Preferred
• Retail or Serving experience a plus, but not required
• Food Safety Certification a plus, but training will be provided if needed
• Strong verbal communication skills necessary
• Sales, Public Speaking, or Education experience a plus, but not required if the candidate is willing to learn
• Store hours are 11a-6p Sun-Thur, 11a-7p Fri-Sat. Typical workdays will start 15 mins prior to opening, and end 15 mins after closing. A parking space is provided to the team member on duty each day at company’s expense.
• Initial schedule will be for two standard days a week, one of which will be Sunday and the other a weekday. Opportunities for Saturdays and other substitutions also available on occasion.
• Due to state regulations concerning sales and serving of alcohol (samples only), candidates must be at least 18 to apply, with preference given to those over 21.
