We are a small, weird, and beautiful Vietnamese restaurant whose primary goal is to somehow make restaurant jobs more sustainable (emotionally, physically, and financially) for the majority of people that work in it (ie not just the owners and head chefs). We’re also one of the only unionized, James Beard Award nominated (4 times =S) restaurants in the country! Strange but true!
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
A BOH line cook and dishwasher working 2-4 shifts. Must be available Fri, Sat, and Sun nights with an optional 4 night. We also have brunch shifts available on Sat and Sun mornings. We are looking to staff up for the busy season and are hoping to have someone start in May. Ideally you have some experience but we are able to train anyone if you like to learn and/or have some other relevant cooking knowledge. Please note that all our BOH staff are required to cook on the line AND rotate into dish shifts 1-2 times a week depending on experience and training. Weekday night shifts are seasonal and would be expected to end by mid-September, with some flexibility depending on other circumstances.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Position starts at $16-18/hour DOE and qualifies for a full of tips. Tips add an additional $8-15 per hour.
- BOH staff are paid bi-weekly on Mondays.
- After 30 days employment, each employee gets 10 hours of paid sick leave. Hours are then accrued at a rate of 1 hour earned for every 30 hours worked. A more detailed review of the policy is included in the new hire packet.
- Annual shoe and knife reimbursements.
- “Consent-based scheduling”, which means we never schedule you for anything you haven’t explicitly agreed to 🙂
- All hourly staff are unionized.
