Summary:
The Kitchen Staff are responsible for the daily operation of the inpatient facility kitchen at the Hospice Home. Under general direction duties include, properly apportioning meal items, serving food, cleaning & sanitizing utensils and kitchen equipment, some meal preparation, and maintaining stock food items. Ensures that all food items are within expiration date, removing and replacing as indicated. Maintains stock of thickened water and juices for utilization by patients. Maintains records of refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher and other equipment temperature logs. Keeps refreshment centers clean and stocked with supplies, coffee and condiments. Plates and serves meals according to dietary requirements of patients, following all guidelines and protocols for food preparation and safety. Notifies CNA staff when trays are set up and ready to be distributed to patients leaving warming carts in hall for recollection of trays to be returned to kitchen. Properly cleans and sanitizes dishes, silverware, pots, pans, stove back splash and work surfaces. Maintains kitchen surfaces, appliances, mats, food carts and floors within local health regulations. Ensures workplace is safe, orderly and clean. Cleans dishwasher after each use. Keep food and other kitchen items well stocked and ready for use in designated areas. Assure that all items are stored according to Health Department standards in air tight containers and on shelves to prevent contamination. Keep refrigerator and food stock areas neat and organized. Perform weekly grocery shopping when directed, providing receipt to facility director. Utilizes Kitchen Team Leader or Charge Nurse as needed to assure all kitchen/food service issues are addressed promptly. Performs other facility related duties as requested.

ServSafe Certification (May obtain after hire)
Experience:
One year experience in food service.
Other:
Valid state-issued driver’s license required. Must carry automobile liability insurance at limits required by agency. Must have own transportation.
