Wheels of Salem County Position Overview:

Meals on Wheels of Salem County is seeking a dependable and energetic Kitchen Assistant to support our mission of delivering nutritious meals to homebound seniors. This position plays a vital role in meal preparation, packaging, and distribution to volunteer pick-up sites.

Responsibilities:

Assist in daily meal preparation following established recipes and guidelines. Package meals accurately and efficiently, ensuring quality and portion control. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. Deliver meals to designated volunteer pick-up locations using a company vehicle (or personal vehicle if required). Load and unload meals with care to prevent damage or spoilage. Assist with inventory management, including receiving and storing food supplies. Follow all food safety and handling regulations. Perform other duties as assigned to support the kitchen and delivery team.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in food service, kitchen work, or delivery is a plus. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required for delivery duties). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and stand for extended periods. Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team. Commitment to the mission of Meals on Wheels and serving vulnerable populations.
