Kitchen Assistant/Counter Person J&J Smokehouse BBQ 550 Main Street, Catskill, NY 12414 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KItchen Assistant/Counter Person to join our team in a fast-paced food service environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service while assisting with food preparation and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. This position is perfect for individuals passionate about the culinary arts and looking to grow their experience in the food industry. Duties Assist customers with their orders, providing menu information and recommendations. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the counter area, kitchen, and dining space. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage practices. Operate kitchen equipment safely, including knives and other food preparation tools. Collaborate with kitchen staff to support catering services as needed. Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently. Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly to ensure satisfaction. Light Food Prep. Requirements Previous experience in a food service or culinary role is preferred but not mandatory. Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is a plus. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor when interacting with customers. Willingness to learn new skills related to food preparation and handling. Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed. Ability to lift up to 50lbs Available Monday and Tuesday 8am – 12pm as well as 2-3 afternoon/evening shifts 2pm -7:30pm.
