This dual-role position ensures that food is prepared, plated, and delivered efficiently, accurately, and beautifully, while managing back-of-house operations and supporting kitchen staff in daily tasks. This is a Tip Position. ⸻

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Expediting Responsibilities:

Coordinate between the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure food is sent out promptly and correctly. Review tickets for accuracy and timing; communicate any modifications or allergies to the kitchen. Garnish, check plating, and ensure food meets restaurant standards before sending it to guests. Maintain constant communication with chefs, line cooks, and servers to ensure timing and quality. Manage food runners and direct the flow of service during peak hours to ensure efficient service.

Kitchen Support Responsibilities:

Support line cooks and prep team to ensure food quality, safety, and cleanliness. Support the BOH team in prep, cooking, and plating as needed during busy shifts. Monitor food inventory and assist in placing orders or notifying chefs about shortages. Ensure all kitchen staff comply with NYC DOH standards for hygiene and safety. Assist the Head Chef in onboarding, training, and coaching kitchen team members. Support the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager in enforcing kitchen policies and performance standards. ⸻

REQUIREMENTS

Prior experience as an expediter, line cook, or kitchen supervisor in a high-volume restaurant. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen operations. Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure. Excellent communication skills to act as a bridge between the kitchen and service staff. Leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate team members. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift to 40 pounds. ⸻

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in soul food, Southern, or upscale comfort food is a strong plus. ServSafe certification or NYC Food Protection Certificate preferred. ⸻
