Part-time (15 hours), hourly, Monday – Wednesday / Non-Exempt Reports to: Meal Coordinator Organization Summary SPARK Senior Centers of Montgomery County is a non-profit organization designed to meet the wholistic needs of aging adults. We operate two Senior Activity Centers in Harleysville and Lansdale. Our mission is to provide access to programs and services that help older adults live independently and remain active. Both centers offer a place of comfort, fellowship, and care to the seniors in our community.

Position Summary:

Our Congregate Meal program at SPARK Senior Center of Harleysville serves approximately 80-100 older adults in a welcoming, restaurant-style setting each weekday. The Meal Assistant is responsible for assisting the Meal Coordinator in any and all kitchen tasks. Must be able to take the lead in facilitating kitchen and lunch service duties when the Meal Coordinator is off-site.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparation of daily lunch and food for special events.
• Oversee and help with setting and cleaning tables and washing dishes, as needed.
• Participate in organizing storage of food and supply orders, and donations.
• Ensure a welcoming environment for volunteers and seniors.
• In the absence of and/or as requested by the Meal Coordinator, supervise volunteers who assist with all aspects of kitchen and lunch service duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Experience in the food service industry, specifically meal preparation. Preferred 2+ years of experience
• Must be in active good health with the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and stand throughout shift.
• Must be ServSafe Certified and maintain certification every five years (paid for by the organization)
• Must pass the required background checks: o PA Criminal Check o PA Child Abuse Clearance o FBI Criminal Check if you have lived outside of PA in the past 2 years
• Strong customer service skills.
• Prior experience working with older adults a plus.

Schedule:

Monday through Wednesday, 5 hours/day, 9 am to 2 pm; preference given to candidates with schedule flexibility to work Thursday/Friday as needed.
