JOB SUMMARY
Under close supervision, assumes the responsibility to provide swim lesson instruction to youth of all ages and abilities, following Red Cross’ Youth Swim Program for Preschool levels 1-3 and Learn to Swim levels 1-6; enforce pool rules; and performs other related duties, as assigned.
SUPERVISION
Recreation Program Coordinator, Recreation DirectorHOURS:
Approximately 10-15 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Be familiar with American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim levels, other Red Cross water safety courses and know how to use course material effectively. Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards, and that materials and equipment are safe.
Assess abilities of students to ensure each student is placed in the appropriate level. Be in the water, getting fully wet, with all classes. Guide swim assistants in the proper performance of instructor duties. Communicate regularly with participants and their parents in a professional manner, to ensure they are aware of progress. Refer any difficult situations to the manager. Ensure compliance with Satellite Beach Recreation Department policies and procedures. Correspond through written and verbal communications. Attend scheduled staff trainings and meetings.
