Description:
Start your day making a difference! We’re looking for an energetic and reliable Opening Lifeguard to be the first friendly face our members see each morning at the Speer YMCA’s beautiful outdoor Aquatics Center. If you love the water, take pride in keeping people safe, and enjoy early mornings, we want you on our team. Our Aquatics Center features an 8-lane, 25-yard lap pool, a warm water teaching pool, and a fun splash pad. We proudly serve YMCA members, families, and local middle school students, creating a vibrant community atmosphere.
What You’ll Do:
Maintain vigilant supervision of all swimmers and aquatic areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. Be ready to act quickly and confidently in emergency situations following YMCA protocols. Set a positive tone for the day with a professional attitude and outstanding customer service. Perform safety checks of the pools and surrounding areas each morning before opening. Promote and model the YMCA’s core values in every interaction. Maintain clear, accurate records as required by YMCA and health department standards. Keep all equipment safe, accessible, and ready for use. Remain calm under pressure and handle challenges with a solutions-focused mindset.
Qualifications:
Minimum age: 16 Current certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen (required) Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent certification (preferred) Strong swimming skills and the ability to stay physically and mentally prepared A team-first attitude and dedication to a great member experience
