Camp Full Job Description Position Overview:
West Lake Country Club is seeking enthusiastic and responsible Summer Camp Counselors to create a fun, safe, and engaging camp experience for children. Counselors will lead campers in a variety of activities, including outdoor play, swimming, arts & crafts, sports, and group games while maintaining a positive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and actively engage with campers throughout the day, ensuring their safety and well-being. Lead and participate in structured activities, including sports, arts & crafts, swimming, and team-building exercises. Assist in the setup and cleanup of camp activities, ensuring spaces are kept clean and organized. Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and enthusiastic atmosphere for all campers. Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members. Adhere to all club policies, safety protocols, and emergency procedures. Provide basic first aid when necessary and report any incidents to the Camp Director. Support and enforce positive behavior expectations among campers. Assist in documenting camp activities by sharing photos and videos with the Camp Director for social media and parent communication purposes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Must be at least 18 years old. Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting is required. Energetic, responsible, and able to work well in a team-oriented environment. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to swim and supervise children in pool settings (lifeguard certification is a plus). CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp begins). Must pass a background check.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
This is a seasonal position running from 5/21 to 8/4. Flexible hours; may include mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings. Compensation based on experience.
