High Meadows School and Camp is located on 40 beautiful acres of farm and woodland in Roswell, GA. offering children ages 5 through 13 meaningful, fun, and formative experiences in the outdoors. Activity skills are taught in a non-competitive way and emphasis is placed on conservation and environmentally sound principles, in a social atmosphere of caring, acceptance, and respect. Staff members arrive each weekday (Monday – Friday) by 8:30am and depart at 4:30pm or when duties are completed. Additional evening hours are required of some positions. Prerequisites for employment at camp include completion of an on-line course, and completion of paperwork by stated deadlines. Employees consent to an annual background check and drug screening as required. Our summer season begins with staff training on May 27th and ends on August 1st. Group Counselor (for campers entering Kindergarten – 4th grade)

Qualifications:

Minimum age of 18 years (unless graduated from CIT program). Experience and desire to work with children with emphasis on environmental respect. At least one year experience as a camper, Jr. Counselor, or Counselor. Experience in group leadership. Good character, integrity, and adaptability; prudence in judgement. Understanding and application of principles of positive discipline. Appreciation of diversity and principles of equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. A group Counselor is responsible for the direct supervision and instruction of a group of approximately 12 to 18 campers, planning daily activities, and actively participating in and encouraging a rewarding camp experience. A Counselor must possess the ability to communicate and work with campers, to observe camp behavior, assess appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and to apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. He/she must have the visual, auditory, and ambulatory ability to respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activities. Program Specialist (for campers entering Kindergarten – 4th grade) Specialists include instructors in the following activities: Archery, Arts and Crafts, Nature, Pony Rides, STEM Activities, Traditional Games and Skills, and Woodworking.

Qualifications:

Minimum age of 18 years. Certification, training, and/or experience in the appropriate activity. Knowledge of history and application of skill. At least two seasons of camp, school. or related work experience. Experience teaching children or in a leadership position. Dedication to principles of environmental concern and respect for nature. Appreciation of diversity and principles of equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging. Genuine interest in children, knowledge of age appropriate activity, and experience in skill progression; flexibility in acceptance of diverse duties; responsibility in carrying out program. Specialists make use of the facilities and natural environment of camp to present to campers various activities and skills that are engaging, interesting, fun, and foundational to their camp experience. Daily classes are pre-scheduled so that each group has an opportunity to experience each Specialist area. Specialist duties do not end with scheduled classes. It is their responsibility to encourage campers to take interest in and practice skills and must promote this by supplying aid and/or materials to counselors for use at times other than their scheduled period. Specialists aid program staff in the planning, set-up, and execution of all camp events. They are responsible for the care and maintenance of their specific work area and all materials that are entrusted to them. Seniors Counselor (for campers entering 5th – 9th grades)

Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. A Seniors Counselor is responsible for the direct supervision and instruction of a group of approximately 12 to 18 campers, ages 10 – 15, including planning daily activities and actively participating in and encouraging a rewarding camp experience. Seniors Counselors co-lead activities including Arts & Crafts, Archery, Animal Care, Dance, Darkroom Photography, Medieval Life, Native American Lore, Nature, Performing Arts, Pioneering, Sports, Teambuilding, and Woodworking. A Counselor must possess the ability to communicate and work with campers, to observe camp behavior, assess appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and to apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. He/she must have the visual, auditory, and ambulatory ability to respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activities. Seniors counselors are expected to participate in one late evening or overnight program per session of camp.

Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Qualifications:

Minimum age of 16 years. Current acceptable Lifeguard Certification. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification Preferred WSI Certification. Prefer at least one season’s experience as a camper, junior counselor, counselor, teacher, or lifeguard. Dedication to principles of environmental concern and respect for nature. Appreciation of diversity and principles of equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging. Successful completion of a pre-employment in-water practical skills test Desire to work with children with emphasis on water safety and recreation. Lifeguards at High Meadows Summer Day Camp are responsible for the direct supervision and instruction of campers in our swimming pool and off-site swim locations. Lifeguards lead daily swim lessons for all campers (ages 5 – 15) and guard during free swim times. Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe and clean pool environment. Lifeguards must possess the ability to communicate and work with campers, to observe camper behavior, assess appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and to apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. They must have the visual, auditory, and ambulatory ability to respond to environmental and other hazards related to the pool activities.

$580.00 – $660.00 per week
