$64.7K – $83.3K a year 1 day ago Qualifications Lifeguard Training Certified Pool Operator Mid-level Master’s degree High school diploma or GED Supervising experience Database management Bachelor’s degree Aquatic Facility Operator Certification 2 years Full Job Description The Assistant Director for Aquatics is responsible for the successful development of aquatic programs and management of aquatic facilities which include an indoor Olympic size pool and an outdoor pool and sun deck. This position hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates all aquatic staff and develops, implements, and promotes aquatic programs to include Learn to Swim Lessons, American Red Cross certification courses and Scuba Diving certification course. The Assistant Director has primary responsibility for establishing risk management procedures relevant to this functional area and conducting staff training regularly to review procedures. Additional responsibilities include payroll processing, scheduling all activities and special events in the pool, and staff development. In addition to program duties, this position is a vital member of a Campus Recreation team of professional staff and will assist in developing and facilitating the growth of recreational programs for the university community, promoting departmental programs, assisting with departmental special events and serving on university committees. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with colleagues Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill and ability to relate to diverse user groups Ability to work independently Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written with people of diverse ability/expertise Ability to analyze problems and generate workable solutions Knowledge of personal computers and standard software programs (word processing, spreadsheet applications, database management) Required Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and WSI Certifications OR High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 8 years of relevant experience American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and WSI Certifications Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree 2 years of experience overseeing a university-based aquatics facility 2 years of direct supervisory experience of aquatic staff in an educational setting American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certifications or the ability to obtain the certification in the first six months of employment Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or the ability to obtain the certification in the first six months of employment
