Atwater Avenue, Manchester, MA 01944 Job Summary Manchester Athletic Club is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lifeguards and Swim Instructors to join our team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for teaching swimming skills to individuals of all ages and abilities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment. The Lifeguards/Swim Instructors will also assist in pool maintenance and provide excellent guest services, fostering a positive experience for all participants. Applicants must have current nationally recognized Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Responsibilities Monitor activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers Caution swimmers regarding unsafe areas Must maintain a safe environment Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer first aid Maintain continuous surveillance of people in swimming facilities Perform pool chemical checks to ensure safety and hygiene Maintain accurate records of pool use and chemical levels Check safety of rescue tubes and buoys and perform needed maintenance Must be fun and engaging Must have a flexible schedule with evening and weekend availability Conduct swim lessons for various age groups and skill levels, adapting techniques to meet individual needs. Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and regulations. Perform heavy lifting as necessary, including assisting swimmers in and out of the pool. Provide first aid and CPR when needed, ensuring immediate response to any emergencies. Engage with guests to provide exceptional customer service, addressing any questions or concerns they may have. Collaborate with other staff members to promote swim programs and events within the facility. Qualifications Previous experience as a swim instructor or lifeguard is required. Strong knowledge of swimming techniques and safety protocols. Certification in CPR and First Aid is highly required. Ability to perform pool maintenance tasks effectively, ensuring a clean and safe swimming environment. Excellent communication skills with a focus on guest services. Must be physically fit to perform heavy lifting and remain active throughout lessons. A passion for teaching swimming and promoting water safety is essential.
