Job Description
Lifeguard – Temporary, Part-Time Jackson County (NC) Cullowhee, NC JOB Monitor pool activities to ensure the safety of staff, participants and the public at county-staffed aquatic facilities of the Cullowhee Recreation Center and the Sylva Municipal Pool. Assigned shifts range from 5.5 – 8 hours per day.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Maintain constant surveillance of pool area and patrons in the facility.
Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
Provide first aid and lifesaving care in case of injury or sudden illness.
Ensure safety protocols and policies are followed by aquatics facility participants, spectators, and staff.
Communicate professionally with patrons or parents of students.
Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
Check and secure facility and doors at closing times.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Jackson County Parks and Recreation staff.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of current life guarding techniques and procedures related to performing various rescues to swimmers during emergency situations.
Knowledge of first aid procedures common in swimming pool operations.
Skill in understanding and responding to customer needs.
Skill in administering first aid and CPR.Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations making proper judgments as to the correct course of action.
Ability to perform general lifeguard duties and pool maintenance tasks.
Ability to rescue swimmers in danger of drowning regardless of the situation.
