Position Summary:

Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons in and around the pool area. This position involves monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety regulations, providing emergency response when necessary, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for swimmers. The Lifeguard will also assist with customer service, ensuring that all guests have an enjoyable and safe experience while at the facility.

Key Responsibilities:
Facility Operations :

Monitor the pool area to ensure the safety and well-being of all swimmers, responding immediately to potential hazards. Enforce safety policies and regulations, ensuring guests adhere to pool rules and safety guidelines. Maintain awareness of pool and water conditions, reporting any issues or safety concerns to the Pool Manager.

Safety & Emergency Response :

Provide immediate and effective response to emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid/CPR when necessary. Participate in regular safety drills to stay prepared for emergency situations. Communicate effectively with other staff members to ensure coordination in the event of an emergency.

Customer Service :

Greet and assist pool patrons, answering questions and providing helpful information regarding pool rules and services. Address and resolve customer concerns or issues in a professional and courteous manner. Foster a positive atmosphere by being approachable and attentive to the needs of guests.

Maintenance & Facility Cleanliness :

Help maintain a clean pool environment by monitoring and ensuring the cleanliness of the pool deck, restrooms, and surrounding areas. Report any maintenance issues or needed repairs to the Pool Manager, maintenance staff or Director of Aquatics. Assist in setting up and cleaning up poolside equipment as required.

Team Collaboration :

Work closely with other lifeguards, swim instructors, and pool staff to ensure smooth operations and safety. Follow instructions from the Pool Manager and Director of Aquatics, maintaining a team-oriented approach to work.

Lifeguard Certification required. CPR and First Aid Certification required.

Experience:

Previous experience as a lifeguard is preferred, but not required. Ability to swim proficiently and perform physical rescues. Knowledge of pool safety rules and emergency procedures.

Skills & Abilities:

Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay alert and focused for extended periods of time. Ability to respond quickly and decisively in emergency situations. Excellent communication skills to interact with pool patrons and other staff members. Strong customer service skills to ensure a positive experience for all guests. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to swim and perform physical rescues as needed. Ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, and engage in physical activities. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (for carrying pool equipment or assisting with emergencies).

Working Conditions:

Work is performed outdoors in a pool setting Exposure to varying weather conditions, including sun, heat, and rain. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the facility schedule. May be required to work during peak seasons, special events, or in situations that may involve overtime.
