The Outdoor Programs Office is committed to offering transformational outdoor opportunities to students at Dartmouth. We engage them and the local community at a number of educational facilities, including the Ledyard Canoe Club, the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge, the Second College Grant, and cabins available for rent throughout the state. In addition. OPO advises the Dartmouth Outing Club, the largest and oldest college outing club in the country. In partnership with our student leaders, we offer trips, outdoor education seminars, workshops, and courses. Moosilauke hospitality is a tradition dating back to 1920. Over the years, Dartmouth folks have turned to the mountain for educational programs, reunions, and to enjoy the woods. The Ravine Lodge is the heart of this common ground for students, faculty, alumni, friends of Dartmouth, and the greater public. The crew serves family-style meals and tends to five rustic, hostel-style bunkhouses. Working at the Lodge means being part of the stewardship of a place so central to the Dartmouth community. A Moosilauke Ravine Lodge Crew Member, under the direction of the manager and in collaboration with other crew members shares all the responsibilities for running the Lodge. Crew members will perform an incredible variety of work, including menu planning, cooking, taking reservations, handling payment, helping with event planning, setting up the dining room, cleaning, gardening, splitting wood, and other projects. All crew members will be trained on these roles! Room and board included. We are hiring for three seasonal crews (spring, summer, and fall). Please indicate in your letter of interest which season(s) you are applying for. Applicants are welcome to apply for multiple seasons.

Approximate dates:

Spring crew: April 23rd

    Summer crew: June 13th

    Fall crew: September 13th
  • November 24th Please submit an application by February 2nd to be considered in the first review.

Remaining positions will be filled on a rolling basis. Position will remain open until positions for all seasons are filled. Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Must be able to obtain certification or the equivalent: Wilderness First Aid, CPR/AED, and ServSafe Food Handler (We can help you schedule and pay for these trainings)
Must be able to withstand long days of work. Some days may involve upwards of 12 hours of work

  • much of which requires standing.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

One academic year of college or equivalent work experience
Ability to become an “approved driver” under the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy
Live at the Lodge during scheduled work week. Crew members are housed together in a single dorm-style bunkhouse with shared full bathroom, facilities (electricity + heat)
Cooking experience or enthusiasm for learning to cook FLSA

Support Lodge operations, 45%
Rotate through the job schedule to fulfill the following roles: cook, sous-chef, dish washer, day desk, dinner host, server, and other projects
Safely and efficiently plan, prepare, serve, and clean-up meals for 1-110 people. (We will train you!)
Coordinate reservations and assist guests consistent with OPO priorities
Handle guest financial transactions
Host brief activities, talks, or other programming for dinner guests Support Lodge upkeep, 45%
Complete various indoor and outdoor projects to maintain the buildings and grounds which could include: regular deep cleaning of industrial kitchen, dining room, bathroom facilities, and bunkrooms, mowing the lawn, chopping kindling, opening and closing the Lodge for the year
Support the safety and wellness of guests, 10%
Provide basic first aid
Represent Dartmouth College, the Outdoor Programs Office, and the Lodge in all interactions with people who come through the Lodge
May drive College vans with student guests to and from campus
