FIRST RESPONDER

JOB GOALS
An employee in this position will exhibit high moralcharacter and execute scholastic based athletic principals. The Non-Faculty Coach will ensure safety of athleteswhile participating; teach good sportsmanship; establish a welcoming environment for all; and positively influencethe students they work with. This Coach will work with administration, faculty, and staff to work towards thedistrict’s goals regarding the whole child, academics, and athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
Graduation from high school or equivalent required. Trained EMT or Health Care provider preferred CPR Certified/ AED Trained or a willingness to get trained Knowledgeable of all athletic policies approved by the TyrrellCounty Schools’ Board of Education
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide documentation to fulfill state and system requirementsconcerning physical examinations, parental consent, andeligibility. Maintain or acquire all necessary First Responder prerequisitesannually or as they expire listed by NCDPI, NCHSAA, & TyrrellCounty Public Schools. Maintain all medical emergency information needed for eachathlete, while also understanding emergencyprotocols if they wereto arise. Promote the sport outside the school by being involved in thecommunity, getting involved in coachingorganizations, and attendingrequired meetings. Provide quality and approved communication to the public. Maintain good public relations with members of the community,parents, officials, volunteers, and fans. Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques tobe taught in assigned duty.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operationalfunctions of climbing, balancing, stooping,kneeling, crouching,crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping,talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or inexcess of 50 pounds offorce frequently and/or in excess of 25 pounds of force constantlyto lift objects. Must possess the visual acuity to operate required equipmentand motor vehicles, use measuring devices, and inspect work foraccuracy, thoroughness, and adherence to work standards andinstructions. Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data and statistics,work with figures, and records processes,operate a computer, and doextensive research and reading.
