Full Job Description Position Summary:

The Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The primary focus of this position is housekeeping duties in resident rooms and common areas, with secondary responsibilities in laundry support. This role is essential in promoting a positive first impression and ensuring compliance with infection control and safety standards in an assisted living setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Housekeeping (Primary Responsibility): Clean resident apartments/rooms including bathrooms, kitchens, floors, dusting, and trash removal. Maintain cleanliness of all common areas including hallways, lounges, dining rooms, activity areas, and offices. Sanitize high-touch surfaces to maintain infection control standards. Perform deep cleaning duties as assigned. Respond promptly to cleaning requests from staff or residents. Restock housekeeping supplies and report inventory shortages. Laundry (Secondary Responsibility): Collect, wash, dry, fold, and return resident laundry as needed. Launder community linens including towels, bed linens, and kitchen rags. Ensure laundry equipment is used properly and maintained in good condition. Sort and label personal laundry to prevent loss or mix-ups.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous housekeeping or laundry experience in a healthcare or senior living setting preferred. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Strong attention to detail and time management skills. Compassionate and respectful attitude toward seniors. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move continuously during work hours. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Exposure to cleaning agents and potentially infectious materials.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed indoors in a senior living community. May be exposed to unpleasant odors, waste materials, and varying temperatures. Must be available to work alternating weekends , holidays, and flexible shifts as needed.
