JOB SUMMARY:

Performs cleaning of all patient/resident care and public areas in the organization. Responsible for the operation and general upkeep of the facility and housekeeping equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

of this job description include but are not limited to: Performs sanitizing and disinfecting work throughout the Clinical and Administration Buildings in patient care areas, exam rooms, waiting rooms, restrooms, offices, meeting rooms, etc. Performs general cleaning tasks such as but not limited to trash/recycling/biohazard removal, dusting, wet wiping, glass cleaning, vacuuming, spotting, polishing and mopping. Adds and performs sections of “Detail Cleaning” such as wiping ceiling vents, high/low dusting, wiping furniture, edge vacuuming and baseboard cleaning. Performs basic equipment care, checks for wear and damage on assigned equipment. Complies with department quality and makes corrections to work quality quickly. Must stay current and knowledgeable on proper disinfection practices and infection control requirements by following Burke Health standards and techniques for infection reduction. Performs light extraction carpet cleaning and scrubbing of safety flooring using automated equipment. Observes and inspects assigned areas for maintenance and security needs and reports needed repairs as soon as possible. Keeps paper and chemical supplies stored in work rooms neat and organized. Keeps Housekeeping cart clean and stocked. Follows the rules and intent of the department’s regulations and safety guidelines. Maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment throughout the department and the organization. Maintains competency. Creates and maintains a positive and trustworthy community image and respectful attitude. Possesses a strong customer and service to others orientation. Participates in team approach throughout the organization. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost-conscious manner, complying with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and

EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Ø High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Minimum one year experience in related field.

WORK RELATIONSHIP

Ø Reports directly to the Director of Clinics. Ø Works regularly with other members of Environmental Services staff. Ø Occasional contact with staff in all departments of the organization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Sitting, standing, walking bending/twisting, kneeling/squatting, reaching, climbing and should be able to lift 15+ pounds using proper lifting techniques. Rapidly changing and stressful environment. Ability to communicate with various levels of people. Possible exposure to communicable and infectious disease and hazardous materials. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements (accidents, injuries and illness). Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple tasks and inquiries.
