Housekeeper/Laundry Aide Position Available In Berkshire, Massachusetts

The primary purpose of this position is to perform the day-to-dayactivities of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department in accordance withregulations governing our facility, and as may be directed theHousekeeping/laundry supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform day-to-day housekeepingfunctions as assigned.
• Perform specific tasks in accordance with dailywork assignments.
• Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, roomheating/cooling units, etc., in resident and recreational areas, etc.,as instructed.
• Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures.

Ensure that water marks are removed from fixtures.

• Cleanwindows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, andentrance/exit ways. Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wetmopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.
• Ensure thatappropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performingsuch duties.
• Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing,deodorizing, and disinfecting.
• Clean walls and ceilings by washing,wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.
• Removedirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using propercleaning/disinfecting solutions.
• Clean hallways, stairways, andelevators.
• Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trashreceptacle with plastic liner.
• Clean vacant rooms as assigned.
• Ensure that areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc.,are properly stored at all times.
• Discard infectious waste intoappropriate containers.
• Ensure that work/cleaning schedules arefollowed as closely as practical.
• Assure that the facility ismaintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education
• Must be able toread, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must possessthe ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, andto accept constructive criticism.
• Must possess the ability to dealtactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors,government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Maintainsupplies, equipment, etc., and the appearance of housekeeping areas.
• Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as bewilling to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at whichthey are currently functioning.
• Must be able to follow written andoral instructions concerning the mixing of cleaning compounds, liquids,disinfecting solutions, etc.
• Must be able to relate informationconcerning a resident’s condition.
• Must not pose a direct threat tothe health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
