Housekeeper/Laundry Pioneer Valley Health & Rehabilitation 573 Granby Road, South Hadley, MA 01075 The Housekeeper/Laundry Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents, staff, and visitors at Pioneer Valley Health & Rehab. This role involves performing various cleaning tasks, adhering to infection control standards, and ensuring that the facility meets the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitization:

Clean and sanitize resident rooms, common areas, restrooms, and other facility spaces. Dust, vacuum, mop, and scrub floors, surfaces, and fixtures. Disinfect high-touch areas and handle hazardous materials safely.

Laundry and Linen Services:

Manage laundry services including washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and resident clothing. Ensure that laundry equipment is used and maintained properly.

Waste Management:

Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables according to facility procedures. Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.

Inventory and Supplies:

Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and equipment as needed. Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the Facilities Manager.

Safety and Compliance:

Follow infection control practices and safety protocols. Adhere to all regulatory and facility policies, including those related to resident privacy and dignity.

Resident Interaction:

Maintain a respectful and compassionate attitude towards residents and their families. Address any concerns or requests from residents in a courteous and timely manner.

Team Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure smooth operation and support for resident needs. Participate in training sessions and staff meetings as required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.

Skills:

Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment. Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move heavy objects and stand for extended periods. Capability to perform physically demanding tasks including bending, kneeling, and stretching.

Working Conditions:

This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the facility’s needs. Potential exposure to cleaning chemicals and biohazardous materials.
