Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Houseman plays a key support role in the housekeeping department by maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces, assisting room attendants with supplies, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment throughout the hotel. This position is essential to delivering a superior guest experience in line with Choice Hotels brand standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness in all public areas including lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and meeting spaces Deliver linens, towels, amenities, and supplies to housekeeping staff and guest rooms as needed Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in designated areas Help strip linens and remove trash from guest rooms when requested by room attendants Pick up trash around hotel property Report maintenance issues to appropriate departments promptly Ensure that housekeeping carts and closets are stocked and organized Support laundry operations if needed (e.g., transporting linens to laundry room) Greet guests warmly and respond to requests in a professional and helpful manner Follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Prior hotel or janitorial experience preferred, but not required Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented Basic communication skills
